 Life At School Spain!

·What time do you start and finish school?

We start at 8:30  and finish at 2:45 in Secondary; and in Primary, we start at 9:00 and finish at 2:00.

·What types of lessons are in your curriculum?

In Primary, we have Maths, Spanish (reading and writing, grammar, expression, ….), English, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences (history, Geography,…), Physical Education and Sports, Religion, Art, Music.

·Do most children stay at school for lunch? If so do they have cooked school lunches and what do they have? How long is their lunch time break?

Only in Primary school, children can have lunch; after lunch, they go home or attend a non- compulsory workshop. But most of children have their lunch at home. Spanish lunch is not like English; it is our big meal.

·Do the children have break times if so how long

Children have half an hour break at about 11:30. They bring a little breakfast from home. In Secondary schools, we have canteens, there they can buy sandwiches and drinks for breakfast.

Do the children have a school uniform, school clubs and what sports do they play?

In public schools, the uniform is not compulsory; but in private or concerted schools (they receive some money from Government and some from parents) it is compulsory.

We have sports club of Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, football and Sailing. But most of these clubs belong to the local authority.
