• Winters
in Southern Greece are quite
mild and it rarely snows.
Only at the mountainous
parts of the northern
country we can say that it’s
really cold in the winter.
Summers are hot and last
long. Sometimes it’s quite
warm even in October!
• The
maximum temperature in
summer (in Athens) is about
40oC.
• The
minimum temperature in
winter (in Athens) is about
-2oC.
• Most
people in Greece prefer to
use their cars for
travelling or commuting.
That’s because our public
means of transport hadn’t
been adequately developed
until recently. Greece is a
rather small country and as
a result people prefer
coaches or trains (to
planes) for domestic
travelling.
• In
city centres people live in
blocks of flats which have
about four to five floors
and no gardens or yards. In
the suburbs and the
countryside they live in
detached houses.
