Life in Australia

What is life like in your country?

I spend about 6 hours watching TV each day.

I would go to a place called Tawonga it’s a caravan park. There is a river there to swim in.

We live in a one story house with a big back yard.

Everyone goes everywhere by car at Burrumbuttock because we are a small country town 30 kilometres away from the nearest city and there is no public transport.  Children from outlying farms come to school on a free government bus. A few children ride their bikes but most village children walk.  We only have 37 students in the entire school, and two classroom teachers.

The children all wear school uniform which is white T-shirt with red school logo and red shorts or the girls can wear a red and white checked dress with a white collar.  In winter everyone wears a red tracksuit with a white school logo. The children are all given a white school hat with a red logo that must be worn at recess and lunch in terms 1 and 4 (Jan – March and Oct – Dec).

The average temperature in summer is 35C and in the winter it is 13C.

The highest temperature in summer is 40C.

The lowest temperature overnight in winter is -3C and 8C during the day.

The children play cricket and football in their breaks and for fun at the weekend. The girls usually play on the monkey bars/play equipment. Tennis and netball are also popular weekend sports.
