At Hagbourne school we care deeply about
our wildlife area and
our local wildlife, we have devoted our attention to red kites and cowslips.
When you have read about wildlife in England in our partner schools then click
the link above to try out our quiz.
If you are a wildlife fan visit http://serenitymusic.com/item--Rain-Dance--raindance.html
you can find very relaxing music on this site. anywhere near our school we can see
red kites and cowslips which are endangered species. You would find
rabbits, hares, moles and other various animals.
These are some of the animals you may find near our
school

Red kites have become quite rare in England because
everyone thought of them as vermin and very bad animals because they ruined
everything and stole things for nests. the Hagbourne area has been
trying to reintroduce these animals into the area and we have been very successful. These animals eat dead things and get rid of dead animals
really well but people started to shoot them because of it because they used
the dead animals to make animal food

Roe dear are very cute.
Locally you can see both Roe deer and Muntjac deer. |
|
The great crested newt is
a beautiful creature. they tend to be
localised in their numbers but their numbers are decreasing each year. The great crested newt is quite rare to find but luckily our own
swimming pool has been visited by them and we are trying to convert them
to our new pond which needs some wildlife. |
 |
Deers are very famous for getting around without being
noticed e.g. deers can get into the corn fields and when the harvesting
starts they are in the field hiding from everything. |
 |
Badgers are at the moment endangered creatures as they are treated
as vermin. They eat meat and can eat a hedgehog even when its curled up!
Badgers are very shy and should not be harmed but people
still go into local woods and camouflage themselves and watch them. This
is perfectly safe as long as people don't approach them and stay out of
their way and don't above all things go to the nest!!! |
 |
Herons are quite hard to spot in England but if you do
see one they walk into a pond very slowly |
http://www.northmoortrust.co.uk/
is a
website and nature reserve that is located literally just down the road from
Hagbourne School.

Unfortunately some animals are endangered and are very
good animals however some people don t respect them and now they are endangered
and at Hagbourne we try as hard as we can to keep
endangered species from extinction as we have already reintroduced red kites and
cowslips back into the area we want to try more and are considering what to do.
