swimming

As Hagbourne school have a swimming pool they have a lot of lifeguards, 

they have to be very careful but at the same time, they are very lucky!

 Every Friday, the juniors go swimming at the local pool in turns. They 

have swimming groups, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9! They do this all year round.

During the summer,  Hagbourne School pool is hired by parents who are lifeguards. 

You are only allowed about twenty people in the pool at once! Also there has to be 

one lifeguard and one pool helper , who volunteered to help!

Some people also chose to have a swimming party, with their parents  as life guard

or volunteered lifeguard to help.

This is a life ring. This may be used to rescue people from the water. 

 At school, from April till October all classes use the swimming pool. 

But we've got a few rules,

  • No running near the pool side

  • If you hear one blow of the whistle stand still and be silent

  • If you hear two blows of the whistle get out of the pool, stay out and be silent 

  • No diving

  • Don't stand in front or very near the lifeguard

  • Don't sit near the edge of the pool    

We have two lifeguards that watch us in the pool. We have a helper 

that offers to help us and we have the teacher that tells us what to do, 

Some of the teachers have also passed their lifeguard training.

Every term people who want to learn to be a life guard take part in a series 

of training lessons and then they have a test to see if they have passed.
